Seventh annual IUPUI Regatta and IUSM faculty barbecue Sept. 19
September 17, 2015
The seventh annual IUPUI Regatta canoe race will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19, on the north end of the Indiana Central Canal between 10th and 11th streets.
Established in 2009, the IUPUI Regatta has quickly become a signature event for IUPUI campuses, departments and affiliated schools. The purpose of the event is to create a high-energy campus tradition that involves both the campus and Indianapolis community while benefiting student scholarship.
The IUPUI Regatta consists of a half-mile canoe relay competition involving teams of up to eight students, faculty/staff and alumni from all Indiana University and Purdue University campuses. The race begins at Fairbanks Hall at the north end of the canal and travels down to the USS Indianapolis basin before turning back to complete the half-mile leg.
To celebrate the event, the IU School of Medicine Dean’s Office and Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Department will host an IUSM faculty barbecue in the Fairbanks Hall Lobby at 11:30 am. This family-friendly event will offer an opportunity for all IUSM faculty to meet Dean Hess, in a relaxed environment. All faculty members are encouraged to attend, enjoy the activities, and cheer the IUSM Regatta Teams on to victory.
