IUSM’s annual Spring House Calls is April 2

March 24, 2016

IU School of Medicine students, family, and friends will take part in the 21st annual Spring House Calls on Saturday, April 2. A student-led event, this is the longest-running service learning project at the IU School of Medicine.

With gardening gloves and spades, participants beautify property for elderly and disabled and other local homeowners in Indianapolis neighborhoods. The "house calls" include planting flowers, spreading mulch and landscaping. After a busy morning, it's tradition for IUSM students and homeowners to sit down together at Christamore House and enjoy lunch provided by Judge’s BBQ.

This annual event is coordinated, managed, and conducted by medical students with support from the IU School of Medicine’s Office of Medical Service-Learning. Co-chairs of this year’s project are second-year medical student Kelsey Loden and third-year medical student Lydia Fischer.
