Indiana University School of Medicine celebrated the graduation of more than 400 physicians and scientists during the school’s annual commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 12. Of the new physicians, nearly 30 percent will continue their medical training in residency programs in Indiana, fulfilling the school’s commitment to prepare the next generation of physicians in the Hoosier state.
Research titan and world-renowned oncologist Larry Einhorn, MD, delivered this year’s keynote address. Best known for discovering a cure for once-deadly testis cancer, Dr. Einhorn remains the international expert on testicular cancer and continues to see patients from around the globe. In his address, he offered words of both encouragement and wisdom:
“Never lose your spirit of innovation, passion and thirst for knowledge,” Dr. Einhorn said. “You will become great physicians and scientists and will be responsible for future medical breakthroughs. Science will always remain the pursuit of truth without ideology.”
IU School of Medicine awarded 487 degrees this month.
