Man on a mission: Miles for Myeloma founder Abonour prepares for 14th annual ride
September 20, 2018
Most men in their 50s don’t bike 200 miles during a weekend. Rafat Abonour, MD, is not most men. He’s on a mission. He’s passionate about finding a cure for multiple myeloma, an incurable but treatable blood cancer. For the past 14 years, Abonour has helped raise funds for multiple myeloma research through Miles for Myeloma--a two-day, 200-mile journey that will take him and dozens of cyclists from Indy to Terre Haute and back to Indy.
The 2018 event begins tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 21. Find out more about the ride, what motivates him to continue the journey and how IU’s Precision Health Initiative is working to find a cure in this Faculty News Q&A blog post.
