Top stories of 2019: Watch the school’s year-end video

For IU School of Medicine, 2019 was a year of extraordinary progress and promise. From preparing tomorrow’s leaders in medicine to tackling some of the world’s most devastating diseases, IU School of Medicine continued its proud tradition of leadership in academic medicine.
Some of the year’s highlights and top stories:
- IU School of Medicine graduated 330 skilled physicians in 2019 and welcomed 365 new medical students.
- Drawing on expertise from the school’s nine campuses, IU School of Medicine launched Scholarly Concentrations, empowering students to pursue their passion in areas like urban medicine, disease prevention and health information technology.
- The school celebrated as IU Simon Cancer Center earned the National Cancer Institute’s highest designation (Comprehensive) in recognition of its robust research efforts to end the suffering caused by cancer.
- Continuing to lead the nation in research for Alzheimer’s disease, IU School of Medicine received a $36 million National Institutes of Health grant to launch a drug discovery center.
